LEO CIFUENTES

Born and raised in Concepción on May 23rd, 1995, a city characterized by a strong musical presence in Chile. At the age of 10, Leo began creating his first musical compositions with a keyboard he received, using the wide variety of resources available to him. A year later, he began learning guitar by practicing songs by Rammstein, Nirvana, Metallica, and System of a Down. In 2007, Leo discovered guitarist Steve Vai through a TV commercial, greatly influenced by his music and playing style. This was the key to delving into the world of electric guitar and beginning the development of his technique, influenced by Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jun Kajiwara (Bloody Roar), Eric Johnson, Jason Becker, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, and Marty Friedman.

Leo began recording his first productions in 2013, including the songs “Defeat of Og,” “Killer Ray,” and “New Life,” which would be part of his first solo album “Giant Aenin” released in 2019 as a compilation of his previous works.

In 2016, Leo participated for the first time in the Guitarfest Chile guitar competition with the first version of “Zenorus Vil,” achieving third place in the competition, demonstrating great skill in composition.

Later, in 2017, Leo began to integrate into the bands Eriaskald and X-Season, strongly influenced by progressive metal, which was a turning point in the development of his guitar technique.

Years later, in 2021, he participated once again in Guitarfest, showcasing his single “Hydra’s Lament,” demonstrating his newly acquired skills in composition, execution, and production of his songs.
